We never train AI on your words.

Your entries are never used to train our models — or anyone else's. When our AI reads an entry to write your reflection, it processes it once and lets it go. It does not learn from you, build a profile to sell, or carry your words anywhere else.

Your journal is not a product.

No ads. No data selling. No analytics companies reading your entries. We make money exactly one way — Premium subscriptions — which means the only thing we're ever incentivised to do is make journaling worth keeping.

Delete means delete.

You can delete your account from inside the app, and when you do, your journal entries and personal information are permanently deleted within 30 days. No "retention for business purposes" games — the only exception is data we're legally required to keep.

Locked down by default.

Your entries travel over encrypted connections and are stored with encryption at rest on our database infrastructure. Row-level security means other users can never read your entries. Automated systems — like the ones that generate your reflections and monthly summaries — access only what's needed to run the product.

You can leave with everything.

Your journal is yours to take. Export your entries as Markdown files anytime, from settings — no support ticket, no waiting period, no guilt trip. If Dear My Past ever stops being right for you, you walk away with every word you wrote.

When you ask for a reflection, your entry is sent to our AI provider once, for one purpose: to generate that reflection for you. The same is true for your monthly look-backs. That's the whole journey your words take.

We use our provider under API terms that prohibit using your data to train their models. Your entries aren't shared with anyone beyond that, for any reason. The AI is a mirror you hold up when you choose to — never a reader over your shoulder.
